Love's Lesson

As the moon casts a shadow over the horizon ,
I think of the time spent together ,
Thinking forever was just beyond the next hill .
However , things such as dreams of magic were not meant to be .
The passion that was thought to be unquenchable
turned as still and cold as the peaks of icebergs .
The cause was unknown to either of us at first , but then
as the distance grew, the clouds in our hearts parted .
Our minds that were once one had subdivided
when doubt has found a way to make a hole in the armour we had forged.
Now, as the years slip by , the memory of the magical spell
that had once captured my heart , never dimmed but only
strengthened the resolve that nothing is forever
because as the wheel of time spins,
life and love spin alongside it to ensure that
lessons , as well as memories , are stored to lead the way
for growth and experience ...
